About

At OldMaps.art, we believe a map is more than a record of place. It is a record of how the world was once understood, imagined, explored, and remembered.

Our work begins with historic maps sourced from archives, libraries, museums, and private collections. We look for pieces with character — maps that carry the marks of age, craftsmanship, discovery, and time.

Each one is carefully restored with respect for the original. We remove distracting damage, stains, folds, and imperfections where appropriate, while preserving the details that matter: the engraved lines, typography, borders, cartouches, color, and historical character.

The goal is not to make an old map look new. It is to allow its beauty to be seen again.

Once restored, each map is prepared as a high-quality art print, with attention to clarity, scale, materials, and longevity. The result is a piece that can be appreciated not only as decoration, but as a fragment of history — something to study, live with, and pass on.

OldMaps.art is where cartography, preservation, and art meet.

Preserving history, one map at a time.
